BOARD-CERTIFIED PROSTHODONTIST
Dr. Joe Meng is a board-certified prosthodontist at Meng Dentistry dedicated to helping patients regain confidence, comfort, function, and lifelong oral health through compassionate, patient-centered care. His practice provides the full scope of surgical, implant, cosmetic, and reconstructive dentistry, offering comprehensive treatment from veneers and crowns to advanced dental implant surgery, full-mouth rehabilitation, implant-supported dentures, and maxillofacial prosthetics.
Whether restoring a single tooth or rebuilding an entire smile, Dr. Meng combines advanced surgical expertise with meticulous restorative care to provide comprehensive solutions for patients with both routine and highly complex dental needs. He also has advanced expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of temporomandibular (TMJ) disorders and dental sleep medicine, helping patients improve not only their oral health, but also their comfort, function, and overall quality of life.
Dr. Meng believes that the best treatment plan begins with listening. Every patient has unique goals, concerns, and circumstances, and no two treatment plans should ever be exactly alike. His philosophy is rooted in patient-centered care and a conservative approach to dentistry—preserving healthy tooth structure whenever possible and recommending treatment only when it truly serves the patient's long-term interests.
One of the guiding principles that has shaped Dr. Meng's 20-year career in dentistry is the belief that our responsibility as healthcare providers is to help patients keep their natural teeth healthy and functional for as long as possible. While modern dentistry offers remarkable solutions for replacing missing teeth, including state-of-the-art dental implants, he believes that nothing can truly replace a healthy natural tooth whenever it can be predictably preserved. At the same time, when teeth have become hopeless due to disease, trauma, or extensive breakdown, Dr. Meng is passionate about restoring patients' smiles, confidence, and quality of life through advanced implant dentistry and comprehensive prosthodontic reconstruction. His goal is not to save or replace teeth at all costs—it is to recommend the treatment that provides each patient with the healthiest, most predictable, and longest-lasting outcome while delivering the greatest long-term value for their health, their investment, and their quality of life. Few things are more rewarding to Dr. Meng than helping patients who have struggled for years with complex dental problems regain the ability to smile, eat comfortably, and enjoy life with renewed confidence.
Dr. Meng also believes that patients deserve to understand their condition and every appropriate treatment option before making a decision. He enjoys educating patients, answering questions, and developing treatment plans collaboratively so they can move forward with confidence, never feeling rushed or pressured. Whether a patient's needs are simple or highly complex, his commitment is the same: to provide honest recommendations, exceptional care, and treatment that he would confidently recommend to his own family.
Dr. Meng has a deep interest in the relationship between oral health and overall wellness. He enjoys studying nutrition, microbiome, exercise, sleep optimization, stress management, and lifestyle medicine, and is particularly interested in the growing body of research surrounding photobiomodulation (red light therapy) and other emerging technologies that may enhance healing and improve patient outcomes. He believes that excellent dentistry extends beyond treating teeth—it means caring for the whole person.
Outside the office, Dr. Meng and his wife, Dr. Minde Meng, a general dentist at Meng Dentistry, enjoy raising their two sons, Fletcher and Wyatt, in the mountains of western Montana. Their family spends every opportunity exploring the outdoors through mountain biking, camping, hiking, hockey, water sports, and countless adventures together.
Dr. Meng also has one hobby that tends to surprise people—mountain unicycling. If you happen to see someone riding a unicycle on a Missoula single-track trail, chances are you've just met him.
